RADIOGRAPHIC TESTING
INTRODUCTION
Involves use of penetrating gamma X-radiation to examine parts and products for imperfections .An x-RAY machine or radioactive isotope is used as a source of radiation. Radiation is directed through apart and onto film or either media. The resulting shadowgraph shows internal soundness of the of the part. Possible imperfections show up as density changes in the same manner as X-ray shows broken bones.
OBJECTIVES
This course is designed to provide the participants with an understanding of the fundamental theory and applications radiographic Testing.
COURSE CONTENTS:
LEVEL I

  • Introduction to radiography
  • Introduction to ionizing Radiography
  • Radiation Safety
  • X-ray Equipment
  • Gamma ray source Equipment
  • Radiographic Films Intensifying screens
  • Producing the Radiographic image
  • Film processing

PRACTICAL

  • Set up the equipment, expose a sample, develop the film and interpret the results

LEVEL II

  • General theory
  • Radiography formulate
  • Factors affecting image quality
  • Radiographic Interpretation
  • Reading Radiography
  • Radiographic Terminology
  • Metal Fabrication
  • Casting processes/Discontinuities
  • Welding processes/Discontinuities

PRACTICAL

  • Perform a test using a technique sheet compiled by the candidate
  • Compile a written instruction and record the findings of the test
  • Set up the equipment, expose a sample, develop the film and interpret the results

EXAMINATION

  • At the end of the training programme, the participants are required to take up an examination both in theory and practical as recommended by SNT-TC-IA.Successful candidate are eligible to be certified by the employer as level I&II in RT.

RADIOGRAPHIC FILM INTERPRETATION
INTRODUCTION
Radiograph interpretation is art not easily translated into formulate or routine procedures. As a result of the variety of conditions encountered in the interpretation of radiographs this art is subject to much controversy exists primarily as a result of lack of practical knowledge. This lack of practical knowledge is demonstrated by the complacency with which in experienced personnel are entrusted with radiographic interpretation.
OBJECTIVES
This course is designed to provide the participant with the knowledge of how to interpret film.
